New fiddle looking a little unwell, what can we do to help?

Hi there,

We just bought a fiddle leaf fig today and some of his leaves are looking a little unhappy. There’s brown/red spots and blotches. Seems to be affecting the new leaves more than older ones, although the underside of the old leaves has some affected areas too.

He was bought from a plant store in Australia, plenty of lighting and not in direct sunlight. We are unsure of his watering. His soil is a little dry today (we just got him today).

Any advice would be great!

Thank you for your question. Since it is a new to you plant, I would see how a regular water and feeding schedule helps. Sometimes fiddle leaf figs go through a distressed period if they have recently been moved to a different environment. A moisture meter may help so that you can ensure your plant is receiving the right amount of water. Good luck!
