Hello,
I am so happy I found your amazing website. I am a proud Fiddle Leaf Fig lover. My husband gave me my first plant last month. I love it!!!!! I have been taking your webinars and the online course. Thank you for all of the insightful information. I have learned so much. Now to my dilemma…
I am writing to get your advice about how to help my Fiddle Leaf Fig continue growing .
I’ve had it for a little over a month and it has been growing beautifully. Last week it even grew several leaves almost simultaneously.
I think I over watered it the first time but I got a moisture meter and have been watering it 2 cups every week. This week I watered it twice because the moisture meter indicated it. I use your recommended plant food and use the moisture meter.
It sits in front of a west facing window because it is the brightest spot in my home (no south facing windows).
I noticed that this week the brownish leaf covering (I’m not sure what the scientific name is…) has not opened up. In the past leaves would just magically open up and appear instantly growing rather quickly.
In fact it appears dry and no green in sight.
Jade, (my plant) looks beautiful but I’m concerned because this behavior is not normal to what I have experienced since we got it.
I would really appreciate your help. I am being proactive because I don’t want my plant to stop growing. Please let me know what you recommend.
I have attached a couple pictures so you can see what I am talking about.

Hello Maricela,
Usually, new growth only stops because of lack of water, lack of nutrients, or lack of light. So it is very likely one of those. How many hours would you say it is getting light from the West facing window? This article here should help you determine if Jade is getting enough light. There are instances where an artificial light source can be used.
I didn't see the pictures come through - Can you post them again?
Thanks,
