Clear sticky substance on leaves

I just started two new plants from clippings off the main plant.  Both plants are doing well except there is a clear, sticky substance on some of the leaves.  New leaves also have some brown, dot marks on them which I am thinking based on one of your articles is about watering issues and these leaves should recover?  I can’t determine where the sticky substance is coming from.  It almost appears that the leaves are sweating this substance.  Any ideas what it could be and what to do about it?

This sounds like it could be either sap or insects. Do you see any insects? Holes typically indicate that mealy bugs or other insects are preying on your plant. Claire
