I was reading the recent post of “seven signs your fiddle leaf fig needs more light” and came across something called “drench-and-drain”.
I currently wipe down the leaves of my fiddle leaf fig tree on a weekly basis, but should I be doing more? What is drench-and-drain and how often should I be doing this?
Hi Amber! "Drench and drain" is when you put the plant in the shower for a few minutes to water/clean it and then let it drain before putting it back in its usual spot. This works best if your pot has really good drainage, and some plants do better with this than others. Start with once a month when it needs water. Put it in the shower and run room-temp water over it for just a couple minutes, then let it sit until water doesn't drain out of the pot anymore.
